Focus on You: Emotional and Mental Health Supports for Caregivers

The new year is a great time to refocus on your mental and emotional health. With healthcare coverage through SEIU 775 Benefits Group, there are benefits — from professional support to self-care tools to treatment — to meet you where you’re at and help you reach your goals.

If you’re experiencing any of the following, consider trying the mental and emotional health benefits available to you:

  • Ongoing feelings of depression or anxiety.
  • A big life change or transition.
  • Relationship or family challenges.
  • Loss and grief.
  • Addiction or substance abuse.
  • A desire to improve your mental and emotional health.

In this blog you will learn more about your benefits and how to access them, so you can pick what’s right for you.

Professional Support: Individual and Group Therapy

Explore your thoughts, feelings and actions and get support in individual and group settings. These can be in-person or virtual, depending on your schedule and preferences.

  • Individual therapy is a confidential and judgement-free space to get ongoing support from a trusted mental health provider. Once you find the right therapist, you can build an ongoing relationship for support with your personal growth.
  • Group therapy occurs in small groups where you and other members with similar experiences can work on reaching common goals. Here, you will learn and connect with others, guided by a therapist.

How to Access Professional Support

On your Summary of Benefits Coverage (SBC), your mental health benefits may also be referred to as ‘behavioral health’ services. Substance abuse services are also found in this category. There are 2 types of covered care options depending on the severity of your case – office or outpatient care, and inpatient care.

There is no charge for in-network outpatient services. If you choose a provider who is out-of-network, there will be an associated cost.  To find an in-network provider, log into your health plan account (Kaiser Permanente or Aetna), or call the number on the back of your Member ID card.

If you are facing a more serious mental health condition or need help with substance abuse or addiction, the best place to start is by contacting your care team. In these cases, treatment is highly personal, and your care team will be able to create a plan that’s specific to your needs. In-network inpatient services are covered for a cost. Call your health plan to learn about the specific benefits available based on your situation.

  • Kaiser Permanente of Washington (KPWA): 1-888-287-2680.
  • Kaiser Permanente Northwest (KPNW): 1-503-249-3434.
  • Aetna: Call the number on back of your Member ID card.

Your coverage also includes medication, if prescribed by your mental health provider.
