Caregivers Connect Real-Time with Benefits at Annual Event
Caregivers recently participated in an immersive experience focused on utilizing their benefits as part of SEIU 775’s Caregiver Leadership Conference.
Nearly 700 caregivers from across Washington, Montana and Alaska came together in Spokane, providing a powerful opportunity for SEIU 775 Benefits Group to provide caregivers with education about their benefits in real-time.
Aided by SEIU 775 Benefits Group’s staff, caregivers engaged in games, hands-on activities, and personal conversations – all aimed at helping them know how to access and make the most of benefits. This engaging benefits zone was focused holistically on the caregiver and their interests, such as planning for the future, career growth and health and wellness.
Engagement highlights included:
- Hundreds of pairs of free, slip-resistant shoes – called ‘Caregiver Kicks’ – ordered!
- An in-person Continuing Education (CE) course focused on managing stress offered for credit from the event’s main stage.
- Personalized support in setting up online retirement accounts.
- Hands-on demos of mobility exercises to address attendees’ specific pain points.
- Free flu vaccines.
Beyond learning about their benefits, caregivers had the opportunity to provide feedback and share their stories. This type of input is essential to adapting our benefits to meet caregivers’ unique needs.
Finally, it was especially rewarding to see the reach of caregivers’ work through the “Our Caring Community” map. The visual representation of caregivers, from Spokane locals all the way to the far reaches of Montana and Alaska, was a powerful reminder that the support of robust, high-quality benefits for caregivers is far-reaching.
