Continuing Education is for Every Caregiver
Some caregivers are required to complete 12 hours of CE each year, while others can take online courses whenever they choose.
CE requirements are based on your provider type. Your employer can confirm if you have a requirement and due date. Caregivers with a CE requirement also have access to instructor-led training through webinars and in-person classes.
How CE Works
Continuing Education Requirements
Some caregivers are required to complete 12 CE credits each year by their deadline. Others can still take online CE courses and get paid.
How do I know if I have a CE requirement?
Your CE requirement depends on your provider type. Contact your employer to confirm whether you have a CE requirement and your deadline (when your 12 hours must be completed).
How many CE credits do I need?
If you have a CE requirement, you must complete 12 CE credits each year.
What happens if I miss my CE deadline?
Your employer can explain how missing your deadline may affect your employment status. Contact them as soon as possible if you think you may miss your deadline.
Can I take CE courses if I don’t have a requirement?
Yes. Even if Continuing Education isn’t required for you, you can still take eligible online CE courses and earn pay.
Credits & Pay
All caregivers can earn up to 12 paid hours each year for completing Continuing Education courses.
When will I receive my CE pay?
CE pay is processed by your employer. If you have questions about when you’ll be paid, contact your employer.
How are my CE credits tracked?
Your completed courses are recorded in the Caregiver Learning Center. You can log in anytime to view your completed courses and training history.
In-language Learning
Many Continuing Education courses are available in multiple languages.
What languages are available?
Courses are offered in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Somali, Ukrainian, Arabic and Amharic. Availability varies by course.
How do I find courses in my language?
Use the language filter in the Caregiver Learning Center to see courses available in your preferred language.
Are in-person classes available in multiple languages?
Yes. In-person classes are offered in several languages at locations throughout Washington.
Finding & Enrolling in Courses
Log in to the Caregiver Learning Center to browse available courses by topic and language.
How do I enroll in a course?
Browse available courses, select the one you’d like to take and enroll directly in the Caregiver Learning Center.
How do I know which courses to take?
Choose courses that interest you or support the people you care for. If you have a CE requirement, any eligible CE course counts toward your required credits.
Can I see the courses I’ve completed?
Yes. Your completed courses and training history are available in the Caregiver Learning Center.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Visit the Caregiver Learning Center sign-in page and use the password reset option. Visit the Help Page for more information.
Online Courses
Most Continuing Education courses are available online and can be taken whenever it’s convenient for you.
Can I take courses on my phone or tablet?
Yes. You can complete online courses using a computer, tablet or smartphone.
Can I pause an online course and come back later?
Yes. Your progress is saved, so you can pause a course and continue where you left off.
How long do online courses take?
Course lengths vary. Each course lists the number of CE credits you’ll earn, which can help you estimate the time needed.
In-person & Webinar Courses
In-person and webinar courses are available for caregivers who have a Continuing Education requirement.
How do I find in-person classes?
Visit the Caregiver Learning Center to see available classes by language and location.
How do I enroll in an in-person class?
Enroll through the Caregiver Learning Center. Classes fill quickly, so it’s best to register early.
What is Tools for Calm?
Tools for Calm is a six-week live webinar series that helps caregivers build mindfulness, resilience and stress-management skills. Eligible caregivers can earn up to six CE credits.
How do webinar classes work?
Webinar classes are live online sessions that you attend at scheduled times. Specific enrollment instructions are provided when a webinar is available.
