Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to explore the emotional wellbeing resources available to you.

Caregiving can be challenging, and many caregivers share similar struggles regardless of their background or circumstances. You are not alone—up to 50% of caregivers experience anxiety, and 1 in 5 are at risk for moderate-to-severe depression. Seeking support is essential, and you don’t have to wait until things get difficult to reach out. The good news is that help is always available, with a range of options tailored to your needs and preferences.

 

Wellbeing Benefits Available to All Caregivers

All caregivers have access to a variety of free emotional wellbeing benefits, including:

  • Headspace: A mindfulness and meditation app designed to help you manage stress and improve your overall mental health.
  • Tools for Calm: Resources that provide strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges.
  • Resource Finder: A tool to help you locate additional support services and resources.

 

Additional Benefits for Caregivers covered through SEIU 775 Benefits Group 

If you have healthcare coverage through SEIU 775 Benefits Group, you have even more support options at your fingertips. These include professional therapy, medication, and group therapy through Kaiser Permanente and Aetna. To find a therapist, visit your plan’s website (Kaiser Permanente or Aetna) and log in to search for providers.

Kaiser Permanente Plan Benefits

  • Behavioral Health Access Line: Call 1-888-287-2680 or visit Kaiser’s behavioral health support webpage for assistance.
  • Mental Health Care Chat: Available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., for convenient online support.
  • Calm App: A mindfulness, meditation, and sleep app available to you at no cost. Learn how to access Calm (must be signed in).

Aetna Plan Benefits

  • Aetna AbleTo Support Program: An 8-week counseling and coaching program offered via phone or video. Call 1-844-330-3648 to learn more.
  • Aetna Behavioral Health Condition Management Program: Work with your care team to get the early screening and support you need. Call 1-800-424-4047 for more information.
  • Talkspace: Access online counseling and therapy services through a diverse network of providers. Learn more about Talkspace (you will need your Member ID card to get started).

 

Accessing Additional Support

Beyond these specific benefits, your Primary Care Provider (PCP) can help you find professional support that suits your needs and provide referrals to specialists as necessary.

Member Resource Center (MRC) will be closed from December 24 – January 1.

If you have questions about enrolling or completing your training, contact the MRC before they are closed. The MRC will reopen on January 2.

Caregiver Learning Center System Maintenance

June 6 (Thursday) – June 10 (Monday)

You can log in, enroll and take your training in the Caregiver Learning Center during this time. 

If you complete training during the System Maintenance, it will be sent to your employer after June 10.
