A wide range of gender-affirming care options is available through your SEIU 775 Benefits Group healthcare coverage provided by Kaiser or Aetna. From hormone therapy to mental health care to surgical evaluations and procedures, you’ll find support in a safe and inclusive environment from a skilled team.  

If you have children enrolled on your coverage, they also have access to these services. 

Your Gender-Affirming Covered Benefits  

The following are available to covered caregivers:  

1) Hormone therapy
Endocrinologists and other specialists can recommend the right hormone therapy for you. On your Summary of Benefits Coverage (SBC), you will find more information about costs under “specialist visit”. 

2) Mental health care
Mental health support is available at every stage of your journey. Learn how to find professional support on your health plan. 

3) Surgical evaluations and procedures
Gender-affirming surgeries are available, though coverage can by vary by location and medical necessity. Your primary care doctor is the best person to start your gender-affirming care process with – they can provide options and make specialist referrals. Primary care doctor visits are $0. 

4) Gender-affirming care for children and teens
Your enrolled dependents have access to robust support and counseling to help kids and young adults navigate their identities. Begin by scheduling an appointment with your child’s primary care doctor.

5) Travel coverage*
If there is no in-network provider within 100 miles of your place of residence, eligible modes of travel and lodging costs (up to a limit) are covered. 

 *Travel coverage is available to Aetna members only. Members pay up front and submit a claim with insurance.
