Basic Training

Basic Training gives you customized training based on what kind of caregiver you are and helps you give comprehensive and high-quality care.

To enroll in Basic Training, go to the Caregiver Learning Center.
If you are an Agency Provider (AP), please contact your employer before you enroll.

Basic Training 70

For Standard Home Care Aide (HCA), prepares you to pass the certification exam to become a HCA.

Basic Training 70 is a 70-hour training that prepares you with the information and skills you need to successfully pass the certification exam and become a Home Care Aide (HCA). It can take up to 5 weeks to complete.

Enroll as soon as possible to make sure you complete your training by your deadline. 

This course is currently offered in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese.

You can request a professional interpreter if there are no courses available near you. 

If you are taking an English Basic Training 70 course with a professional interpreter, translated course materials can also be provided in Nepali, Samoan, Tagalog, Ukrainian, Laotian, Farsi and Punjabi.

Basic Training 30

For Adult Child Providers, Limited Service Providers and Family Providers (includes Parent Provider, Non-DDA).

Basic Training 30 is a 30-hour self-paced, mostly online only course. This includes:

  • A 3 and a half hour in-person Skills Lab class.
  • 27 hours of online courses.

After you are enrolled, you can begin your online courses at any time.

This course is currently offered in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian and Vietnamese.

Basic Training 9

For Respite Caregivers.

You need to take 9 hours of online courses to complete your training. 

All courses are available after you enroll and you can begin them at any time.

This course is currently offered in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian and Vietnamese.

Basic Training 7

For Parent Individual Providers (DDA).

You must complete all 7 hours to meet your requirement. This includes:

  1. 1-hour of independent study.
  2. 6-hours of instructor-led training (2 online webinars).

Basic Training 7 is currently available in English, Amharic, Cambodian/Khmer, Chinese, Korean, Nepali, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Somali, Tagalog, Tigrinya, Ukrainian and Vietnamese​.

Caregiver Learning Center System Maintenance

June 6 (Thursday) – June 10 (Monday)

You can log in, enroll and take your training in the Caregiver Learning Center during this time. 

If you complete training during the System Maintenance, it will be sent to your employer after June 10.
